I completed my January goal of 150 pages done with two full hours to spare. The best part of it all was that I finished all 2006 pages, so they can go into albums! I hate being so far behind. It totally drives me nuts. My February goal will be more manageable. I am shooting for 100 pages. Believe me, not all of these pages are winners, but they are done. Yeah me! (<----me, clapping for myself)
Amid my January 31 scrapbook page deadline, I worked on these little babies instead today. I wanted them to be on our desks by February 1. The mailboxes are from the One Spot at Target and the miscellaneous embellies are from my stash. I am going to give the girls a handful of cards and embellies to get started on their love letters. I need to start mine too. I am 11 pages from my 150 page goal. I will work on that later this evening. Maybe. Here is side shot of one of the mailboxes.
This is the soap dispenser in the girls' bathroom. It is pretty plain, so I got into my Valentine's Day embellishment and ribbon stash. I used a couple of glue dots to secure the charm in place. I think it looks quite sweet next to the new heart handtowel.
Isn't Princess Minnie sweet? We had never seen Minnie all dolled up as a princess until yesterday. She sure looked cute. Notice the nice rain ponchos. The girls took their ponchos off for the picture, but they had those lovely yellow ones on for almost the entire day.
We had planned to travel to Anaheim on Sunday, then go to the park on Monday, and drive home Monday night. But we had been hearing about a big storm coming on Sunday and thought let's go on Saturday instead. Also, Debbie Do-gooder (aka Abby) didn't want to miss school today, so after a long day in the park, we drove home last night. FIVE lovely, exhausting hours. My feet hadn't fully recovered from being on them all day Friday, preparing for the father-daughter dance! Ouch.
It rained pretty hard during a portion of our Disney visit. That, of course, is the time when the girls wanted to ride Dumbo. Wayne and I watched from a covered patio nearby. They were soaked when they got off. Also, Wayne was lucky enough to have his picture with his favorite Disney princess, Pocahontus. He was pretty embarrassed actually. After the girls visited with her and got their picture taken, I asked her if it was okay if dad got a picture too. He was mortified. She grabbed his arm right away and told him that he must be "the Chief." WAY TOO FUNNY!
This picture from this tonight's dance is hot off the press (the dance ended less than two hours ago!). It helps that I am the one that took all the pictures. It was a great success. Great music. Yummy food. Lots of girls with their daddies and grandpas. So sweet. I ordered the sign and the mask from Shindigz. It is so cool to have the date and dance info on all of the pictures. Don't they look great?
One of the things that occupied my time last week was a bit of organizing in the playroom. We purchased these two shelves and 18 cloth bins from Target to help get all of the girls' American Girl dolls off the floor and better organize and conceal all of their clothes and accessories. I added a tag and ribbon to each bin to identify what is inside.
Abigail and I worked on these last night. We made 20 total. The pink ones are for the girls and the red are for the boys. I used a paint pen for the "I dig you!" part. Abby put the chocolates in the bags, helped with stamping the labels, signed all of the labels, and stuck them on the back of the shovel. I think they look adorable. My next projects (along with trying to do 52 scrapbook pages in the next eight days) include: decorating four little Target mailboxes for the four of us, putting out our Valentine's decorations, and making some Heart Day cards. I am waiting for some new Doodlebug product to arrive. I can't wait to get started.
I deserve the bad blogger award (if there is one). I have been busy though. I have been working on my 150 page January goal. I am just two shy of 100! Yeah me! I always feel like London Tipton when I say that-does anyone else watch the Suite Life of Zack & Cody?
I finished this page today (3 of them actually). I really like this picture. It is of my two girls and two friends. They were over one day afterschool last school year (noticed they are all dressed similarly because of standardized dress) and had been playing on the dirty trampoline. Their feet were filthy and I made them march into the bathroom to clean-up. When I walked in to check on them, this is what I saw. It made me smile, so I grabbed the camera.
I went to visit baby Olivia today and got to hold her for a couple of hours. She is so sweet and beautiful and smells so yummy. I kept kissing her and breathing her in. I miss that newborn stage. Wayne asked me if I missed it so much that I wanted a baby. Quickly, I said no. I'll just keep visiting Olivia. ;) I brought my camera to take a few pictures, but there was no memory card in it. I was totally mad at myself. Next time.
Hmmm....Last week I turned 38. YIKES. My girls made me such sweet gifts and I got a new pair of lined Crocs (although it feels like I am wearing slippers out, very odd). Abby painted the two suncatchers and Hailee made me the Wish box. Awesome, huh? A very relaxing birthday at home with the four of us and my mom. I wanted two things for my birthday: a new camera or Lasik eye surgery. I have an appointment on February 4th for a consultation for eye surgery.
The father-daughter dance is this Friday and my garage is filling up with tablecloths, napkins, decorations, the photo backdrop, etc. We go shopping early Friday for the food. The DJ has been confirmed, so there isn't too much to do until then. My girls are excited.
I am working on Abby's Valentine treat for her class. This is the project. I did it a few years ago, when Hailee was in 2nd grade. Love this project. The shovels are from iParty and are 40 cents each. I bought some chocolate hearts to put in the small cello bag. I will post a picture when I am done with them. This picture is from the website.
She was born last night at 10:00 p.m. She weighed a whopping 9 lbs. 8 oz. and was 21 inches long. New mom Brandie, new dad Gerardo, and baby are all doing fine. She is so pretty and was quite the center of attention. There were about 20 of us in the waiting room. It was crazy! We were playing Scrabble, Nintendo DS, electronic Deal or No Deal, taking bets on her arrival, and just having fun waiting. Some of us were there for 12 hours or more (as we got the call at 8 a.m.). Welcome baby Olivia to our family. You have no idea what you're in for!
I just finished this two-page layout for Hailee's album that documents her 5th grade student council vice-presidency campaign (ultimately she didn't win, but she ran a good, clean campaign). I thought that sharing this layout was a bit timely considering all the news lately is concerning the presidential primary. The page is titled "the makings of a great CAMPAIGN" and I have listed some of the important things: bribery (candy, in her case), coordinating accessories (she is a girl, of course), homemade campaign buttons, an adorable candidate (the most important part of the campaign), a well-written speech (presented in front of all the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classes), and lots of advertising. And since no campaign is without some type of drama, a parent did complain about Hailee's nice-looking signs. She said it wasn't fair that she had help. Said parent later took her child's signs to an uncle who does airbrushing-whatever. For the record, (and this is politics, so there is always a "record") I cut the letters out of paper with a die-cut machine, but I never inhaled. ;)
I am coming along with my goal of 150 pages this month. I have already completed 56!
