We did so much in October that it is difficult to post about everything. We made two trips to the pumpkin patch (one in Half Moon Bay and one in Merced), a trip to Berkeley, a quick visit to the Manteca Pumpkin Festival, a couple of dinners with family and friends, a ladies' night of pokeno, a week without my hubby (sad), report cards for both girls (awesome), the zombie walk, a yogurt date with new friends, a coffee date with an old friend, Abby's minimum days, watching the Great Pumpkin and Barney's Halloween (my fave), a Halloween playdate, pumpkin carving, caramel apple making, cupcake decorating, and trick-or-treating.
Let me start with the pumpkin patch in Merced. This was a true patch. The pumpkins were actually grown here, not shipped in. What a concept. The weather was perfect too, so I got some great shots of my girls.
Why must they always behave like this in public?
Hailee wishes she were taller than me, but I happen to be standing in a ditch.
Here are a few pics of our visit to the pumpkin patches in Half Moon Bay. We actually went to four. We ended up purchasing six huge pumpkins in HMB, then another eight at Raley's, plus a cinderella pumpkin at the Merced patch. Our green garbage can will be packed this week.
We made caramel apples one night and took one over to my aunt and cousin and one to my mom and grandma. They turned out pretty yummy. This is something I would love to do again. And no, i didn't make my caramel from scratch. We used a package of little caramel balls. I didn't have to unwrap a single caramel! :)
So, Friday before Halloween we had some of the girls' friends over after school. That wasn't the ORIGINAL plan. The original plan was for me to take pizza and cupcake kits to Abby and a couple of her classmates for lunch. I thought that would be too much work, so I just invited them over for pizza and cupcakes that evening. I was SOOOO right. That was MUCH less work. (Catching my sarcasm?) Fun was had by all and I got to practice my awesome dance moves playing Just Dance 2.
The next morning we hosted pumpkin carving at our house. I think there were about 23 of us in all.
Grandma was napping, so we missed her in this picture. :(
Hailee did an awesome job on her GINORMOUS pumpkin.
Grandma woke up and we got to take some pics with her. Why, Brandon and Justin? Why?
Four generations. Grandma didn't carve this year, but she had orange fingers from the Cheetos she was eating. That counts, right?
Because that wasn't enough activity for the day, we cleaned up a HUGE mess of pumpkin guts, played more Just Dance 2, watched the Great Pumpkin, and then decorated cupcakes (just the four of us).
And yes, that skull bowl is filled with lime green buttercream.
Halloween night....finally. My girls were in Harry Potter-themed costumes. Abigail was a beautiful Hermione Granger and Hailee was a fantastic Luna Lovegood. Hailee had a friend come over to trick-or-treat with. Wayne took the three of them out dressed like a zombie, while I was a black-eyed pea who stayed behind to pass out candy. I got too tired resizing photos, so no pics of Wayne or me. He rocked his zombie costume though. I had a green shirt with a giant P ironed on the front and a blackened eye. No Fergie outfit for me. ;)
My adorable wizards! Someone at school actually thought Hailee was Britney Spears! Um, no. Did you bother to check her Ravenclaw tie? Someone thought Abigail was Harry Potter. No, Harry has glasses. And is a boy. :P
Oops, I did it again.
The haul:
And that is it. There is no more. Hope you all had a wonderful Halloween!
